Despite it being an open secret that this was likely to be Thiago Silva’s last season at Chelsea, everything seems to indicate that this secret could be confirmed in the coming days, as stated by the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

According to this source, the 39-year-old footballer has already made a firm decision regarding his future, and it does not involve continuing at Chelsea, but rather embarking on a new adventure starting in July 2024.

Thiago Silva will leave Chelsea after four years together

Arriving in the summer of 2020 from PSG, Thiago Silva quickly became an idol and a reference point for a Chelsea side that would go on to lift the UEFA Champions League in his first season in English football.

A couple of years later, Thiago is not only one of the club’s captains but has also become a living legend in international football for continuing to play, at 39 years old, at the highest level. However, what goes up must come down, and it seems destined to wake from the idyllic dream he has been living in London for the past four years.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Thiago Silva will leave Chelsea as a free agent this summer after making the decision not to renew his contract. This decision, according to the Italian journalist, would already be definitive and is likely to be confirmed sooner rather than later, either by Thiago Silva himself or by Chelsea.

Of course, Fluminense, Thiago’s formative club, is the Brazilian team most interested in securing his services, but this source also asserts that Thiago Silva will not rush into any decision and will only consider offers once the season with Chelsea is over, as he is 100% focused on finishing the campaign in the best possible way.

Although the desire to see him wear the tricolor jersey of Fluminense again seems mutual, Thiago Silva would also have other offers on the table to which he will not close the door.

Zagallo documentary
