One of the pathways to the U17 World Cup is determined by the regulations of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). These rules dictate that the top four teams from the South American Under-17 Football Championship secure their spot in the World Cup. In the competition, New Caledonia secured second place in Group B with one win and one loss, with their only loss being to New Zealand. They defeated Samoa in the quarterfinals and Tahiti in the semi-finals but ultimately lost to New Zealand in the final, who became the champions.
