My football season is now over. Yesterday, I went to São Januário to watch Vasco and Botafogo, one of the biggest derbies in Rio de Janeiro.

It was my first time at the stadium, just two days after the Libertadores final, and yet I was able to be impressed by the Vasco fans, who cheered all the time and took the streets closer to São Januário.

The Avenida Roberto Dinamite, which celebrated the club’s biggest idols, was full of life despite being two hours away from the start of the game.

The game meant a lot and was very disputed. Vasco fans are showing a lot of support for the club, who might face relegation once again. They keep on fighting.

League leaders Botafogo, however, seem to his lost its grip. Their fans were chanting, but Vasco’s goal changed everything. There were not a of chances and many disputes were in the midfield.

I hoped to see Payet, but he was not used by Ramon Diaz. Tiquinho Soares played for Botafogo and was unable to pose a threat in the match.

I guess football is an universal language, in which happiness is expressed by throwing beer in the air and chanting.

When the referee ended the match, São Januário showed its power again. The fans sang in the street and are probably singing until now.
