Flamengo secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Amazonas at Maracanã in the Copa do Brasil on Wednesday, despite not showcasing their best form. Coach Tite openly recognized the team’s underperformance.
“You didn’t play a good game and you have to accept it, especially in the creative and offensive process,” he admitted, addressing Flamengo’s struggle to find their rhythm in series of matches.

The match also marked the return of Gabigol, who had been out due to a suspension from a doping violation. Tite acknowledged the risk involved in playing him extensively after a long absence. “I was wrong to have put him so long in the game,” he admitted, but justified his decision based on the game’s demands.
“He hadn’t been training normally, but the needs of the game called for a player of his stature,” Tite added, expressing his thanks to the striker for stepping up when needed.
Looking forward, Flamengo faces Bragantino next in the Brazilian Championship without several key players due to injuries. Despite these challenges, Tite is optimistic about adapting the team’s tactics.
Tite also emphasized the importance of respecting the fans, especially during less successful periods. “When the team isn’t producing, I stay quiet. It’s about respect for the fans,” he stated, noting his commitment to maintaining a positive relationship with supporters despite the ups and downs of the season.
