The Brazilian national team embarks on a new cycle with Dorival Júnior as manager, following a brief period under the tutelage of Fernando Diniz, who held the position while simultaneously working at Fluminense. Ahead of the first game with the former São Paulo boss at the helm, Bruno Guimarães compared both coaches.

“I think, although they are two coaches who have a very offensive style, they are very different. Diniz tends to place practically the entire team on the side of the ball. Dorival, on the other hand, prefers to utilize the wingers in one-on-one situations, playing with depth,” said the midfielder in a press conference.

Guimarães believes Dorival will let him get closer to his Newcastle version

“We are also trying to understand things we do in our daily routine. Diniz was a little different because he has his peculiarities, but with Dorival, we have already worked a lot, we have seen many videos of what he likes to do, playing with three in the back, with four, things he is planning,” continued the 26-year-old footballer.

“With Professor Dorival, I do things that I practice more in my daily life, which are important to me, things I am also used to at my club. From now on, you will be able to see the Bruno from Newcastle in the Brazilian national team because these are things we are used to doing more in our daily lives,” Guimarães added.

While it is still uncertain how Brazil will line up, it is expected that the Magpies midfielder will be in the starting lineup for the match against England on Saturday (23) at Wembley.

Newcastle, Premier League make Guimarães happy

The Brazilian’s growth since arriving in England from Olympique Lyon in 2022 has put him on the radar of major European clubs. However, Guimarães made it clear that he is happy where he is right now.

“It’s difficult, but it has always been my dream to play here, I have always followed the Premier League. Since I’ve been at Newcastle, everything has gone very well in my professional and personal life. I feel very good playing among the best in the best league in the world. I see myself playing here for a long time, but I also have other goals of moving, but that’s a matter for the future. I am very happy here in the league,” Guimarães said.
