Andreas Pereira is one of the standouts in the Premier League playing for Fulham. His good performances have led the player to return to the Brazilian National Team after years.

This is considered Andreas’s comeback, as he returned to England in 2022 in a low phase after a stint with ups and downs at Flamengo.

In an interview on the Five podcast, hosted by former player Rio Ferdinand, Andreas Pereira recalled the 2021 Libertadores final.

“When it happened (the mistake in the Libertadores), I was perhaps the best player on the team, being speculated for the national team. The final was my best game, I was playing my best football in the final. We couldn’t score, I don’t know how. Then in extra time, we were short of options in midfield,” Andreas began.

The midfielder said he presented himself to provide a passing option. However, when it came time to make the pass, he slipped, and the ball fell to Deyverson to score the goal that secured the title for Palmeiras.

“I offered myself, received the ball, and slipped, then the guy (Deyverson) scored. Right after that, it was hell,” he recalled.

Use of armored car

In the interview, Andreas Pereira said that he needed to use an armored car when returning to Brazil, fearing attacks from Flamengo fans.

“Upon returning to Brazil, there were people trying to attack the bus, trying to attack you at your home. We had to stop the bus early and change to a different car, one that is not normal… the car was bulletproof. So, at first, when I got home, I thought, ‘I can’t believe this happened to me,'” he concluded.
