“It’s special, right? For everything that has happened in the past, I’m so happy to be able to return to representing my country, it’s a childhood dream,” celebrated Guilherme Arana to Galo TV.

“It’s a series of thanks, I thank God, my family, my teammates and Clube Atlético Mineiro for experiencing this again,” he continued.

Guilherme Arana was tipped to represent Brazil at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The full-back, however, suffered a serious injury to his left knee in September of that year. Thus, he was left out of the final list of coach Tite.

Moment of the call-up

Arana described how the moment he received the call-up was. The player celebrated together with his family.

“It was me, my wife and Luigi, ‘Guizinho’ was already asleep. When I heard my name, the screaming started, Luigi got scared and started screaming, my parents called me too, everyone was very happy,” he said.

“So, it’s an immense happiness, a joint victory. A year ago, I was begging ‘Chacho’ (Coudet) to take me to the game and today to be called up and represent my country is immense happiness,” he concluded.
