In January of this year, the Hammers initiated initial contacts with potential targets, and among them was Portuguese Abel Ferreira, a multi-champion with Palmeiras, according to UOL.

Abel Ferreira’s decision to decline the Hammers’ offer was influenced not only by his recent contract renewal, but also by personal and family reasons, as well as the recognition and stability he found at Palmeiras.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes of English football, West Ham continued its search for a replacement for Scottish manager David Moyes, the current coach of the club.

Other names considered by West Ham

With Abel Ferreira out of the picture, attention turned to other options, including fellow Portuguese Ruben Amorim and the Spaniard Julen Lopetegui.

Abel Ferreira has turned down several offers from abroad throughout his career, demonstrating his commitment and loyalty to Verdão, despite tempting financial offers.
