Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino revealed Thiago Silva approached him on Tuesday after the Blues’ 4-2 loss to Wolverhampton at Stamford Bridge. “He came today to talk with me. I am not going to talk in the way we were talking. The important thing is he came and wanted to talk with me,” Pochettino said, via the Daily Mail.

Shortly after the home defeat to Wolves, Silva’s wife Isabelle made a cryptic social media post that immediately went viral. “It’s time to change. If you wait any longer it will be too late,” she wrote. Many wonder if she was implying that her husband should leave Chelsea in the summer, or if the club should part with Pochettino. Either way, the Argentine coach believes he can turn things around.

Pochettino doesn’t reveal what he talked about with Silva

“He knows me after more than 10 years, who I am, we are a very strong coaching staff and the way we operate. Of course he came to talk. We talked. It was private. And that’s it,” Pochettino added, as he didn’t want to expand on the subject of his conversation with the Brazilian defender.

Silva, 39, is entering the final months of his contract, which expires at the end of the season. His future in London remains unclear, with a return to Fluminense looking like a real possibility for the veteran center-back.

Pochettino, meanwhile, made it clear he believes in his squad. “I told the players in a meeting today that I trust you more than ever. I am going to support you more than ever. I am not a normal boss. I am the leader and I need to reflect in every single action that I really trust. Of course we are going to face this moment with knowing that we can get back and start to win games. Of course we are very disappointed because in the way we lose the game and the way we perform wasn’t the plan or the way we wanted to compete. But we need to keep going.”
