Bayer Leverkusen thrashed Eintracht Frankfurt 5-1 to extend their unbeaten run to 48 matches while celebrating the Bundesliga title. In addition to the victory and the streak, the German team also celebrated Arthur’s return, who started for the first time this season after seven months on the sidelines.

Speaking to the media, coach Xabi Alonso celebrated this news and predicted a promising future for the Brazilian: “Arthur did very well. He wasn’t calm enough in the first five minutes. It’s not easy after seven months, but he worked well and is a young, very good player. We have in him a top player for the future.”

The 21-year-old full-back arrived in Germany in August 2023 from América Mineiro in a transfer worth seven million euros. However, he could barely play three games (none of them from the start) until he suffered a leg injury that required surgery.

The recovery was more complicated than expected, and only this past weekend could he step back onto the field. Now, he hopes to take advantage of Xabi’s confidence to get more minutes in the final stretch of the season, which includes UEFA Europa League semifinals (Bayer won the first leg against Roma 2-0).

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.

Binge the first four episodes available on Sambafoot’s Youtube channel. Stay tuned for upcoming releases as we keep telling this legend’s life story.
