Who laughs last laughs better. That old saying can be uttered by Ederson when celebrating Manchester City’s momentous victory that put them on the path to winning the Premier League, hours after receiving several messages from Arsenal supporters when his phone number was leaked.

The situation was shared by the Brazilian himself, by uploading a screenshot of his mobile phone on his Instagram. “My number was leaked and I received several funny messages,” the goalkeeper wrote in the post.

“Let’s go Arsenal” and “Arsenal, Arsenal, Arsenal” are some of the texts that can be seen in the publication. The thing is that the north London team needed its neighbor and classic rival, Tottenham, not to lose to City to have a better chance of winning the title.

However, the victory was 2-0 for Pep Guardiola’s team, which was two points ahead of the Gunners with one match remaining. If they beat West Ham at the Etihad Stadium or if Arsenal does not beat Everton, the Citizens will shout champion again.

What is known about Ederson’s injury

The goalkeeper, called up by Dorival Júnior to represent Brazil in the 2024 Copa América, did not finish the game. After a collision with the Argentine Cristian Romero he was replaced by the German Stefan Ortega, vital with a series of saves to maintain the advantage.

Guardiola himself gave details about the injury after the match: “Ederson did not have a concussion, but rather an eye problem. He couldn’t see well, so the doctor told me to change him. He had a kick in the eye and it’s swollen. The doctor told me that it had to be changed. He had no other alternative.”

Remembering Zagallo
