This collaboration seeks to boost soccer development and increase visibility in both regions. By hosting the Copa América in the U.S. for a second time—initially in 2016—it taps into the U.S.’s robust sports infrastructure and diverse fan base to effectively promote the sport. This strategy not only introduces top-tier international football to North America but also fortifies the relationship between the two soccer confederations.

Number of teams at the Copa América 2024

In the tournament, 16 teams will compete—10 from CONMEBOL and six from CONCACAF. Teams like the United States, Mexico, Jamaica, and Panama qualified through the CONCACAF Nations League, while Canada and Costa Rica secured spots through a playoff.
