What is the relationship between Madonna and football?

One of Madonna’s sons, David Banda, would have been the main reason the singer lived in Portugal years ago. In an interview with Vogue Italia, the singer said she had moved to the European country influenced by her son’s passion for football.

At the time, David was 12 years old, and had the dream of being a professional player in the sport. In the country, he played in the youth categories of Benfica, one of the main teams in Portugal.

“My son David wanted to play professionally. I did my best to find the best schools with the best coaches, but America in this field is behind compared to the rest of the world. I saw his frustration and then it seemed like that was the moment,” the singer said at the time.

Now 18 years old, David is dedicated to the study of music, his mother’s field, and accompanies the Queen of Pop as one of the guitarists in the Celebration Tour group. On stage, David likes to differentiate in looks, even wearing Queen of Pop clothes in his performances.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
