Vasco da Gama continues to act boldly in the transfer market, even before the official opening of the window in early July.

In addition to being in advanced negotiations with Philippe Coutinho, the Gigante da Colina now has another big name in sight. According to information from journalist Lucas Pedrosa, Vasco consulted the situation of Thiago Alcântara, who left Liverpool this season.

Thiago Alcântara to Vasco?

  • Vasco president Pedrinho has been leading these forays, just as he did with Coutinho;
  • Negotiations with Thiago’s father, Mazinho, a former player and Vasco idol, were initiated due to the president’s great admiration for the player;
  • The midfielder said goodbye to Liverpool last weekend.

Are there negotiations for Thiago Alcântara?

The signing of Thiago by Vasco is considered difficult, due to the player’s high salary, incompatible with Brazilian standards. In addition, Thiago still has a market in Europe.

Another point of concern is the low frequency of the midfielder on the field in the last season. He played only once, against Arsenal, in the Premier League. In his career at Liverpool, Thiago participated in 98 games, scored three goals and provided six assists over four seasons.

Thiago’s wife posted a photo of her son in Flamengo’s jersey

Speculated at Vasco, Thiago has never hidden being a Flamengo fan. On social media, the player’s wife posted a photo in which one of the couple’s children appears wearing the red-and-black jersey.

Thiago Alcântara’s career

Thiago Alcântara, son of four-time champion Mazinho, chose to defend the Spanish national team and had a successful career at Barcelona, where he turned professional in 2008 and played for five years, winning several titles, including two Spanish league titles, the Champions League and the Club World Cup.

In the 2013/14 season, he moved to Bayern Munich, where he remained for seven years, winning seven German league titles, one Champions League and the Club World Cup. At Liverpool, where he has been since 2020, his biggest achievement was the FA Cup in the 2021/22 season.
